A TV ramble

I was woken up this morning by what sounded like my brother yelling "Hello!" over and over. I got up to see what was going on, but he wasn't around. His bike was in the hallway though. I guess he'd left it there earlier, when my dad was in, come round to collect it without his key, then left just before I got downstairs. Either that or it was part of a dream I was having, but I doubt it because I was dreaming about something else.

It's been a very uneventfully week, which explains the lack of updates. A lot of new TV though, Life on Mars started on Monday. I loved it. That was a huge surprise to me because I didn't think the idea sounded that good, but I'll definitely be watching the rest of those. I'm 97% sure they only called it Life on Mars so they could play the David Bowie song over the part where he gets his by the car though. Not that I'm complaining, it was cool.

New series of Smallville on Monday too. I like Smallville, but either that was a dud episode (not a good thing for the first one of a new series) or I'm starting to get bored of it. Hopefully I'll enjoy it more next week. Ooh, new Stargate and SGA *jumps up and down in excitement* how cool were they? There was Invasion, which looks like it might be semi interesting. Not got me hooked yet.

Hyper drive, that program people were calling the new Red Dwarf - yawn. Totally failed to grab my interest. With people comparing it to such a great show, it was bound to disappoint really, but the whole thing seemed to bland and uninspired. It was like someone had just sat down and tried to think of a few things that should be funny in theory, bunged them all in randomly and crossed their fingers. There was zero characterisation, and too much relying on "Oh yeah, aliens wanting to rub their genitals on the crew, that'll probably be funny." It really really wasn't. I think we needed to spend the first episode getting to know the characters, in that sort of show, you need characterisation to make the comedy work. If they wanted to to be the new Red Dwarf they should have taken more ideas from the format than comedy + sci-fi = instant classic. Because it doesn't.

Oops, didn't mean to rant! Maybe next week I'll watch with lower expectations and be pleasantly surprised.

And next week there's new Desperate Housewives as well.
